Control Systems Engineering
Study Guide – Overview
Control Systems Engineering Study
Guide serves as a complete reference guide for candidates preparing for the
Control Systems Professional Engineer (CSPE) examination. The latest edition of
this manual includes all the specifications and other relevant study materials.
This guide provides candidates with information about the scope and design of
the CSPE exam, sample questions, and resource references for their preparation
processes.
This exam covers electrical,
mechanical, chemical, and other branches of engineering that center on the
technologies required for feedback and control of dynamic systems. The
candidates who are willing to take up this exam must possess the ability to
apply their knowledge to the planning, design, development, operation, and
evaluation of control systems. The test is to ensure the safety and practical
operability of control system processes.

Preparation Tips
Preparing for Control Systems
Engineering can be made easy if you plan a schedule and stick to it. Staying
committed from beginning till the end matters the most. Following are some
useful preparation tips that can help you succeed:
·
Attend a comprehensive,
well-structured practice exam. It helps you to prepare quickly, and you can
effectively become comfortable with what to expect on the day of the exam.
·
Have detailed solutions and
well-organized study materials that help you logically walk through the
preparation process.
·
You must be able to adjust
and optimize your study schedule so that it helps you to succeed.
If you are planning to take up the
PE exam, start preparing for the exam by enrolling in an online review course.
Enrolling in a review course will be an added advantage. There are several
professional review courses on the Internet that helps you boost your
preparation process.
Usually, these review courses
include online classes, ondemand videos, workshop sessions, question banks, and
reference materials, and much more. The review courses will help you achieve
your goal by:
·
Providing you with the
necessary support every step of the way until you get your PE certification
·
Help you gain essential
problem-solving and other skills required to clear the exam
·
Covers all the contents and
provides question banks and reference materials
·
Mainly focuses on
significant topics that would appear on the exam.
·
Provides you with the
confidence that is required to breeze through the exam
The main idea of these review
courses is to help an engineer with 4+ years of experience prepare for the exam
by providing instructions in a wide range of technical areas. Generally, the
content is based on the CSE Exam Specification that came into effect in October
2011.

Exam Specification
Controls Systems PE exam is a
pencil-and-paper exam administered by NCEES, available through the US state
boards of engineering every April and October. It is an 8-hour exam, and the
questionnaire includes 80 questions.
It is an open-book exam, which means
that candidates can bring their reference materials to solve and answer the
questions. The exam is conducted in two sessions – morning and afternoon, and
each session consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. The candidates are
expected to attend to all the questions.
Control Systems PE exam challenges
candidates to adopt different sets of approaches and methodologies, and this
includes design, analysis, and application. The exam utilizes both the
International System of Units (SI) and the US Customary System (USCS). To know
